About Adaptive Therapies
At Adaptive Therapies, your mental health is in the hands of professionals that genuinely care about their clients and their well-being. Our therapists are passionate and professional, and strive to build a safe and supportive environment for everyone. The therapists at Adaptive Therapies hold themselves to high professional standards, utilising Feedback Informed strategies to measure client progress and satisfaction, and to inform their own professional growth.
In recent years research has found that Psychological health is just as important as physical health to longevity and quality of life. People are now understanding that seeking help is not difficult and that they are not alone in their struggles. Therapy is simply a safe space to explore issues that may be difficult to discuss with others, and to gain outside perspectives. Good therapy should not feel like therapy, but a good conversation.
About Adam
Adam is an AHPRA registered Psychologist and a Member of the Australian Psychologist Society. Prior to private practice, Adam has worked as a therapist since 2008 and has had experience working in Government and NGOs working with children from unsafe home environments.
He has been working in private practice since 2014, and works with clients across the life span (6 years and up). Adam employs an Integrative approach to his therapy. That is, he utilises strategies and theories from a number of different therapy types in his sessions, tailoring therapy to the client and their needs. These approaches may include (but are not limited to) Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Strengths based therapy, Narrative therapy, and Systems based therapy.
When he is not working, Adam enjoys fishing, camping with his family, and has 20 years experience in martial arts. Principles learned in martial arts including balance, flow, and feeling help to inform Adam’s practice.
Feedback Informed Therapy
FIT is a therapy tool used from session to session to measure client satisfaction and therapeutic progress. It involves responding to two short questionnaires (4 questions each) at the beginning and end of sessions.
At the beginning of the session clients respond to the Outcomes Rating Scale (ORS) indicating how they have been over the past few weeks. At the end of the session clients respond to the Session Rating Scale (SRS) indicating how the session went for them.
By providing the clinician with real time indications of how a particular intervention is working the ORS responses can be used to help guide therapy. This information can also be used to indicate a clinician’s overall efficacy.
The SRS is used as a tool to help clients provide honest feedback on how sessions are going for them in a safe way. This helps clinicians adjust sessions and therapeutic approaches to better suit the client. Research has shown that the more honest clients can be with clinicians, the better the therapeutic outcomes.
